Match Spotlight
Britney took on the role of being Bradley’s big sister in February of
2007. Since then they have developed an amazing bond and have been
able to share some incredible activities together. They have taken
weekend trips to Six Flags over Chicago and the Mall of America in
Minnesota, where he got to touch a shark and a stingray! Joan, Bradley’s
guardian, said “He and Britney talk a lot and they really hit it off. Bradley
really likes Britney”! They are currently working on a scrapbook together
that Britney plans to give him so he has pictures of the time they spend
together. She has been very happy with her match from the start, even
stating “I couldn’t ask for a better little brother”!
It Takes Five...
At the heart of every successful Big Brothers Big Sisters match are the BIG
and the LITTLE, two people, often from different backgrounds, who come
together and forge a genuine, mutually fulfilling friendship.
BUT THEY CAN’T DO IT ALONE!
Making a great Big Brothers Big Sisters match takes five: the Big and Little, of
course, plus a parent, a Big Brothers Big Sisters staff person and the donor
who makes the match possible.
Between screening, matching, training, and support each match costs just
under $500. Without the fifth essential partner, the donor, there would be no
Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Thanks to our families, volunteers, donors and fund-raisers Big Brothers Big
Sisters of Northeast Iowa matched nearly 1200 youth in 2006!
Donate $500 now and you will receive an "Adopt a Match" plaque for
your home or office!
